A small list of heaven...
Vanilla Beans. A 1/4 inch piece, boiled into warm milk (cow, goat, almond, rice, etc.) with some sweetener added. = Heaven.
Or, submerge it into a Simple Syrup (bartender's sugar + water mixture) and use to flavor juices and homemade sodas.
I bet it's good for vata AND pitta.
Cumin. Probably not on everyone's list of heavenly kitchen items. But really adds some depth and dimension to beans as well as salsa and tomato dishes. Great for digestion.
Pomegranate Molasses. Back to heaven. A little touch of this to soups, salad dressings, marinades... Not expensive. Fun to experiment with.
Mirin. Rice wine. Delicately sweet. Definitely heavenly. Good mirin is a little pricey (about $8- a bottle?). Cheap mirin has corn syrup added to it. I add this to stir fry's or saute's. It adds a nice light sweetness to your food.
