Follow the Sun

I was fortunate to speak very briefly yesterday with Dr. Basmaa Ali (Zanjabee Integrative Medicine & Primary Care) about shirodhara, the pineal gland and how those with irregular sleep and work patterns may benefit from the treatment.

Anyone whose daily sleep routine is irregular and is not experiencing the natural rhythms of the sun, is altering their body's melatonin production and could benefit from shirodhara. Frequent travellers, night workers experiencing Shift Work Sleep Disorder (SWSD), and anyone lacking a regular daily routine would highly benefit because the treatment helps to restore one's natural rhythms of sleep and rest.

The ideal routine is to wake and sleep with the natural rhythms of the sun.

Check out this study on shirodhara and insomnia.
